Background
The Hakone Open Air Museum is a stunning outdoor sculpture garden in Hakone, Japan displaying over 1,000 works of art from well-known artists, including Picasso, Henry Moore, and Taro Okamoto.
Many of the colossal sculptures are interactive, set amongst the beautiful views in the Hakone valley.
Hakone, Japan sits near Mt. Fuji, which attracts tourists from all over the world. The region boasts beautiful lakes and rivers, relaxing hot springs, and plentiful views of the mountains.

Design Process

The new branding for the museum will celebrate the harmony between art and nature by showcasing tessellating patterns paired with geometric typography and colors pulled from the Hakone scenery.

Rollout
I created some mockups showcasing how the new museum brand could manifest across products such as wayfinding, posters, and merchandise.
